Who's behind this

About

Hi, I'm Ray. Not my real name, but it's the one I go by around here.

The day job

I work in IT, mostly where infrastructure and security meet. Keeping systems running is half of it, keeping the wrong people out of them is the other half. I like that mix, and it's where most of my learning happens.

At home

My desktop runs Linux (Fedora Kinoite), and an Unraid box handles media and a few self-hosted services. Some of that may end up here, minus anything that points to my actual setup.

Off the clock

Games, mostly. Right now that's World of Warcraft: Forever, which I only just started. I also watch anime and collect manga and light novels, and when the weather plays along I'm out on the motorcycle.

My motorcycle parked above a lake at sunset.
A quick break on one of my rides.

Why this site exists

Partly to learn Astro, mostly to have a place for things I don't want to forget. Some posts will be technical, some will be about games, some will just be about a ride I enjoyed. No schedule, no master plan.

Why "Wisplight"?

A wisp is one of those little lights in the woods from old stories and plenty of games. You spot it between the trees, follow it, and end up somewhere you didn't plan to go. That's pretty much how this site works: I follow whatever caught my eye, see where it leads, and write some of it down. If you look closely, there's one hiding on the homepage too.
